Incredible!! Saw breaching humpback whales and orcas. God I love whales. I'll be back to see them again.
It appears as though I spent the 2 or 3 days while on the ferry reading Walden. Looking at that now makes me really wonder what was going through my head. I know I was looking for solitude when I planned this trip, but it appears I was also thinking about other things too. I really don't remember the details of why I wrote each of these quotes in my book. I am dreaming of taking a little time this summer and doing a short tour down to the Big Wheel Ballyhoo. Maybe I'll read Walden again while on short tour and it will spark some more memories.
The things I do remember are the whales and the orcas. While I did try to take pictures of the breaching whales, they were a bit out of my range for the camera I had with me. They look like specs in the pictures or rocks sticking out of the water. Doesn't matter to me. I saw whales that day. Sorry I can't post pics. These pics are still in slide format.
I also remember approaching Vancouver Island. At least I think it was Vancouver Island. On the very northern most end of the island, the Orcas would rub their bellies on the rocks. We saw quite a few in this area. Amazing! Orcas, in my opinion, are one of the world's most amazing and beautiful creatures. I sure hope by the time I am able to bring my wife and kids there that this unique and beautiful place still has the right habitat and that the Orcas are still thriving.

Kinda sad that you/we have to worry about whether a habitat will still be right for the Orcas in a few years or less.

Yeah, you are so right Jason. It is sad. I was afraid to write that but I do believe that there is some probability that that habitat won't be the same when I return.
Recovered from Frostbike? Well, not really. I'm finally taking a day off tomorrow after 16 days of work. Before anyone calls me out on the # of days, I know 2 of them involved riding. Yes, it's true, but I was working in California.
